CleanTech Coalition In The UK Aims To Drive Sustainable Innovation And Growth
London, Feb 15, 2023: At Imperial College London, Bill Gates and UK Prime minister, Rishi Sunak graced the launch of Cleantech for UK initiative, aimed at catalysing UK’s cleantech innovations. The initiative is a collaborative effort among investors and venture-builders with a total fund of more than £4 billion, dedicated to expediting the transformation of the UK’s scientific research into leading cleantech scale-ups.
Undaunted, a community that's tackling climate change with innovation, is one of the original members of the Cleantech for UK initiative, which aims to link the policy-making sector in the UK with individuals who are involved in creating, nurturing, investing in and expanding the cleantech industry.
“Investing in renewables and cleantech is one of the best ways to strengthen our energy security, create better-paid jobs and grow the economy. This shines a light on the strength of UK innovation – and our ability to find new ways of doing things to drive economic, social and environmental progress’’, said the UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.
The Prime Minister also believes that the introduction of this initiative, provides assurance to a new wave of skilled British companies that will receive the necessary support to discover eco-friendly solutions to mitigate the climate crisis.
Commenting on this collaboration, Bill Gates said, “The UK has all the ingredients to become a major player in the global push to build a net-zero emissions future, including world-class research facilities and forward-looking investors. It’s great to see cleantech businesses, innovators, and policy makers coming together to advance UK climate leadership.”
Such joint efforts can drive investment in clean energy, develop sustainable technologies and ultimately make the world a better place to live in. This collaboration serves as a model for other countries and organisations to follow and prioritise the transition to a greener future. It is only through such collective efforts that we can ensure a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.
